A Quick Progress Update

by | 2019-09-09

So, I’ve been putting this off for a few months, as you can probably tell. Things are moving, but a lot of things are moving slower than expected, some things have been started and some things have been dropped. I’m going to keep this one simple and just give you the quick rundown.

Ascension III is moving slowly. I was hoping to have made much more progress by now, I was hoping to have a strong demo by the end of this month for Full Indie 2019, but for various reasons that just hasn’t happened. I talked about an abbreviated demo a few months back, but even that is only about halfway there. I think there will be a demo release of some kind, but it’s going to be a more subdued one. What I had planned originally for this year will probably be next year’s demo.

I’ll be posting a more detailed status update/postmortem on Ascension III on its itch.io page in the next few days.

Project Katana is pretty much cancelled. It’s kind of a ridiculous idea and to be honest I really only made the last push because the “chris’s infinitely delayed visual novel” was a bit of an in-joke among my friends. I still have a soft spot for it, but it’s definitely in the pile of projects that I just don’t have time to do.

I promised a few videos last year and this year and I don’t think they’re going to happen- I just don’t have the time, energy, or in some cases resources to do them- but I can update you on a few of the projects I’ve mentioned.

The practical retro build is done- it sits under my desk and I fire it up to play old games. I got a decent deal on a complete PIII system and upgraded it with a faster processor, better GPU, my Voodoo2 and AWE64, a modern SSD and power supply.

My recording setup was almost identical to LGR’s, but I’ve actually ripped it apart and I’m rebuilding it into a unit that I can just take out, plug in and go. I probably won’t do a video on that but I might do a writeup when it’s done.

Finally, I know I said I’d explore WARP again but I’m not sure if that’s going to happen. I can’t afford a decent test system, meaning I’d have to use my gaming rig, and there are a bunch of things I have to figure out if I want to do that.

I haven’t really felt like writing much, be it fanfiction or original work. I’ve written a few bits here and there, some published and some not. I’ve tried to get back into The Fallenstar Prophecy but I just couldn’t find the time. I am working on a companion piece for Ascension III but it’s not a priority since the release of that is so far in the future.

The fanime is dead. If anyone followed that or watched it at all, there won’t be any more. I’m sorry, but it was stupid at the time and it’s just not something I can afford to screw around with anymore.

Finally, the new IP is still on my mind and I’m planning to have something related to that released at the end of this year.
